I found this movie over the summerRepo: The Genetic Opera in a slightly roundabout way, which is another story altogether. The reason that I found it and watched it was for the single reason of Anthony Stewart Head (Most people might recognize him as Rupert Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). He is joined by Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), Sarah Brightman (Phantom of the Opera) and Paris Hilton. It also stars Paul Sorvino, Bill Moseley, and Orge from Skinny Puppy.

And, best of all, Terrance Zdunich (he also wrote it, but he plays Graverobber).

What has happened is that there was a massive organ failure in the not-so-distant future.  A company, Gene Co. has risen up and provides the needed organs with an affordable financial plan. However, if you can’t make your payments, Beware the Repo-Man.

In the present time, Shilo Wallace (Vega) suffers from a blood disease inherited from her mother. Her father, Nathan (Head) is overprotective, a doctor… and a Repo-man.

There is also the Largo family: Rotti (Sorvino), Luigi (Mosely), Pavi (Orge), and Amber Sweet (Hilton). Rotti is the owner of Gene Co.; Luigi, Pavi and Amber are his children, who he feels are unworthy of being his heirs. Rotti is dying and wants Shilo to be his heir. He was in love with Shilo’s mother, Marni, but she left him for Nathan. Part of the reason that he wants Shilo to be his heir is to take her away from Nathan, like Nathan took Marni from him.

Blind Mag (Brightman) is the Voice of Gene Co and sings in The Genetic Opera. She was Marni’s best friend and is Shilo’s godmother. Mag was born blind; Gene Co. has given her digital corneas, which allow her to see. They also bind her to Gene Co.

Finally, Graverobber. I love Graverobber. He’s the reason that I bought the soundtrack (“Zydrate Anatomy”) and the DVD.

In many ways, it’s as messed up and convuluted as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and as bloody as Saw (That’s a guess as I’ve never watched the Saw movies). But it’s awesome!

I know you can borrow the movie from Netflix. And for more fun, visit Repo: The Genetic Opera and Little Glass Vial.

You won’t regret it.
